OUR SUCCESSFUL HISTORY

Rumi opened its doors in October of 2005. It was conceived and brought to life by Fariborz Mohebati, an Iranian who had only spent the first 10 years of his life in Iran. Him and his family were drawn to China because of the many similarities that it shares with the land of Persia. Both cultures value hospitality and the most common way of showing that is through food.
Rumi initially opened a small restaurant on Xiaoyun Road and as its popularity and fame grew was able to move to its present, centrally located Sanlitun premises on Gongti Beilu. Here, we continue to develop our menu by keeping the traditional Iranian dishes and also experimenting with new inventions periodically.
Our unique interior was designed by Silvia Minciarelli, director of Spaces in Beijing. She used Iranian elements in a contemporary and dramatic manner that is enjoyed by both our regular and new customers.
